Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers – seeking staff interested in chairing working group

The was launched in June 2008 and is an agreement between the funders and employers of researchers in the UK to ensure ‘today’s researchers are nurtured and supported during their career development’. Through the implementation of its principles it aims to enhance the researcher workforce and thereby sustain and enhance research excellence bringing benefits to the health, economy and well-being of the UK.

The University has a Working Group to promote and lead the implementation of the Concordat and for the past year this has been chaired by Professor Hugh Perry, who is now stepping down from this role. Therefore an opportunity exists for a member of Professorial staff to take on the leadership of this University wide group, to support this important area of work. The group has administrative support from the Professional Development Unit (PDU).

If you would like to know more about the work of the group please contact Julie Reeves, ECR Skills Training Co-Ordinator (Associate CIPD) Professional Development Unit (J.D.Reeves@soton.ac.uk)

If you would like to express an interest in chairing the group please contact Professor Debra Humphris, Pro Vice Chancellor Education (d.humphrs@soton.ac.uk)

The draft Terms of Reference for the group are available on the Education & Student Experience site

Closing date 2nd November 2011
