In summary, it will be the normal expectation that the University campuses will remain open. If the weather is so severe that it is unsafe to continue activities, decisions to close will be made on a campus by campus basis. It is possible that one campus will be closed while others remain open. Information will be communicated to staff as quickly as possible, either through University means – text messages to senior managers and emails to all staff, notices on the University website, automated messages on the University switchboard (02380 595000), social media feeds and announcements on local radio.
If the University has to be closed during the period of the data centre outage (3 January 2012 – 6 January 2012) the front page of the University website will display this information and local radio and social media feeds will carry appropriate announcements.
