British Sociological Association: Climate Change study group event – 30-31 March

Booking is now open for the BSA Climate Change Study聽Group seminar on 鈥淢ethodological and conceptual approaches for researching climate change at different societal scales鈥 on the 30th/31st of March 2012.

The seminar aims to reflect upon the methodological and/or conceptual challenges that sociological research on climate change at different societal scales poses (e.g. household, local, regional or national), and the ways in which researchers have innovated methodological tools and/or conceptual approaches to address these challenges.

The morning session includes presentations from invited speakers including:

鈥 Professor John Urry, University of Lancaster

鈥 Dr Pauline Leonard, University of Southampton

鈥 Professor Patrick Devine-Wright, University of Exeter

鈥 Professor Elizabeth Shove, University of Lancaster

鈥 Dr Heather Lovell, University of Edinburgh

The afternoon session consists of a series of 6 workshops on the themes of:

鈥 Conceptualising climate change

鈥 Media, communications and mixed methods

鈥 Methodological approaches

鈥 Climate change at individual and household scales

鈥 Researching the multi-level and local dimensions of climatechange

鈥 Practices and policies in international perspective
