More than 350 students jumped at the chance to find out more about their optional choices at the Curriculum Innovation Module Fair this week. They were able to talk to lecturers about what the modules on offer to them will cover and how they will be taught and assessed. To meet their interest in the opinions of their peers, the event鈥檚 organisers also arranged for a number of students who are already taking some of these modules to come along to share their experiences.
The whole event was designed to increase awareness of the CI modules, which provide opportunities for multi-disciplinary study and the development of new skills, and to encourage students to consider them as options for next year. With the online option choice system open for the next four weeks, this was an ideal time for students to gather more information.
鈥淚鈥檝e really enjoyed today,鈥� said Clare, one of the student helpers. 鈥淢ostly people have been asking about when the modules are running as they want to fit them into their timetable.鈥�
Other interesting features of the event included five minute 鈥榯aster talks鈥� on a range of topics from ethics to piracy and social networks to employability. Students could also book an appointment to have their CV assessed by a graduate employer, either the retail giant, Tesco, or PwC, a leading professional services company.

The chance to develop skills and knowledge outside their core discipline will be key in building their future.鈥�
