This Thursday, the university will be hosting the British-Guyanan poet, playwright, and children’s author John Agard, who is coming to speak and perform his work as part of Black History Month. John Agard is a fantastically engaging and talented writer and performer, and we’re very lucky to have him on campus. In 2003 he received the Cholmondeley Award in recognition to his immense contribution to British poetry; he’s also a wonderfully inventive children’s story-teller.
Drinks will be served from 6pm outside Lecture Theatre C in Avenue Campus before the talk begins at 6.30pm. These event is being run jointly by with the Diverse Arts and Artists Community Association (DAACA), the university’s diversity office, and the Centre for Modern and Contemporary Writing.
All are very welcome: come, bring family and friends etc.
