St Michael鈥檚 Church, Southampton and the University of Southampton Music Department mark Remembrance Sunday with a special performance of Franz Joseph Haydn鈥檚 Mass in D minor, Hob. XXII:11, Missa in Angustiis (鈥淢ass in Time of Trouble鈥).聽 Haydn wrote it in 1798, the year of Admiral Horatio Nelson鈥檚 victory against French naval forces in the Battle of the Nile 鈥 hence the alternative title 鈥淣elson Mass鈥.聽 Nelson himself may have heard the Mass performed when he visited Eisenstadt in 1800.

Paul Cox conducts the University鈥檚 HARTLEY Singers and Sinfonia, joined by guest soloists and Cantores Michaelis 鈥 the university choral scholars based at St Michael鈥檚.
