Pioneering research from聽our University was featured on German TV鈥檚 biggest science show 鈥淒ie gro脽e Show der Naturwunder鈥 last week.
Tim Leighton, Professor of Ultrasonics and Underwater Acoustics from ISVR, demonstrated the University鈥檚 revolutionary ultrasonic attachment for taps, which uses bubbles to massively enhance the ability of water to clean. This technology was developed through collaboration between Tim and Dr Peter Birkin and Dr Doug Offin (Chemistry). The attatchment won the Royal Society鈥檚 premier award for innovation (the 2012 Brian Mercer Award for Innovation) and the 2012 Institute of Chemical Engineering Award for 鈥淲ater Management and Supply鈥.
You can watch the show, which has a quiz-style format (Professor Leighton鈥檚 research features at 7 minutes in, with Tim appearing at聽eight minutes 20 seconds) here –
