Cutting-edge commercial research from the University is to feature in a major new exhibition at the Science Museum in London.
The University鈥檚 for Marine Technology and Industrial Aerodynamics, which has been a world leader since 1967 in the prediction of sailing yacht performance through the use of experimental and computational techniques, has been chosen as one of three exhibitors to showcase their expertise in a three-year exhibition called 鈥楨ngineer Your Future鈥.
The Wolfson Unit will showcase a sailing yacht model used in wind tunnel testing during Emirates Team New Zealand鈥檚 Version 5 Americas Cup challenge in 2007. The model was tested in the 7x5m wind tunnel at the University to develop and predict the sailing performance of the yacht.
Professor Simon Cox, Associate Dean for Enterprise in Engineering and the Environment, said: 鈥淚t is excellent to see how the work of our Wolfson Unit Engineers is inspiring the next generation of engineers and scientists in this innovative exhibition at the Science Museum.鈥
The exhibition was opened by HRH Prince of Wales on the 16聽December 2014.
