Dr Catherine Rychert from the Faculty of Ocean and Earth Sciences聽has been announced as the 2015 winner of the Fowler Award of the Royal Astronomical Society.
Dr Rychert received the聽award for her significant achievement in the field of geophysics. Her work focuses on imaging the Earth鈥檚 tectonic plates and developing a range of geophysical methods to help understand the mechanisms behind it. 聽Dr Rychert鈥檚 significant contributions in this field make her one of the world鈥檚 leading young seismologists.
Dr Rychert said: 鈥淚 am honoured to receive the Fowler Award from the Royal Astronomical Society. 聽The award represents an important promotion of early career science and I am humbled and grateful that my research has been highlighted in this way. I am also thankful for the amazing support provided by my family, my students and postdocs and the University of Southampton.鈥�
