‘Technology Enhanced Learning’ has been chosen as this year’s Enhancement Theme. The decision was made by the Academic Quality and Standards Committee (AQSC) at its January meeting.  The University uses enhancement themes to focus activity around a particular area to improve the quality of learning opportunities.
A University-wide programme of activity will now be developed around this theme, addressing issues such as the use of new technology in lecture theatres, using technology to  improve feedback, online learning, and good practice in preparing and recording class sessions. Academic and administrative staff will be included, as well as students and, in particular, the University’s iChamps.
For the past two years, the University’s Enhancement Theme has been ‘Feedback to Students on Assessment’ and AQSC heard how the University and faculties had addressed this theme. This included a feedback conference coordinated by the Institute of Learning Innovation and Development (ILiAD); discipline level drives to improve the timeliness and quality of feedback;  discipline level workshops on specific issues and the trial of a ‘reflection on feedback form’, used as a discussion in Personal Academic Tutors sessions.
