Gender equality: making a difference (conversation cafe)

We need your input to shape the agenda and continue to make a difference.

Athena SWAN, the national charter mark for gender equality in academia, is expanding this year beyond science-related disciplines to include arts, humanities, social science, business and law and also professional and support staff.

With the expanded charter mark, where are the challenges and barriers to gender equality for these disciplines that typically attract more women?  Where do they remain for STEMM disciplines and for the University overall?  Most important, what should be the key priorities over the next 2 years?

You are invited to be part of the conversation cafe on Friday 13 March 2015 in the Hartley Suite, Highfield Campus with our guests, Professor Jessica Corner, Professor Jane Falkingham and Dr Marina Carravetta. The cafe facilitator will be Pam Morgan (ILIaD).

  • 09:30 Doors open. Coffee, tea, cold drinks, fruit and nibbles throughout.
  • 10:00 Welcome and background to start up the conversations, leading to a round-the-room discussion with cafe customers and guests.
  • 12:00 Event closes. The café will remain open for half an hour.

at one of our café tables now.

The University itself holds a Bronze award, renewed in 2012. Most STEMM faculties or AUs now either hold, or have submitted for, their own Bronze awards, with some actively aiming for Silver. ¸£Àû×ÅƬ out more about .
