Southampton Quidditch Club takes first place in national competition

Southampton’s Quidditch Club 1 (SQC1)Ìýwon first place in the annual British Quidditch Cup held this month, coming first of 24Ìý teams.

 

With a final score of 12o*^-90, SQC1 beat the defending Radcliffe Chimeras.ÌýThe University’sÌýsecond team –Ìý SouthamptonÌýQuidditch Club 2 – took 16th place.ÌýA play-by-play review of the match isÌýavailable on .

“Everyone who took part represented both our club and university fantastically and we’re looking forward to more success in the future,” says SimonÌý Bidwell, Captain of SQC1.

The team will make its first appearanceÌýat theÌýupcoming taking place in Oxford onÌýSaturday 18 –ÌýSunday 19 of April.

Quidditch at the university has grown considerably in the last year, starting a second team and becoming the largest club in the country.

If you would like to get involved, or attend a training session at Southampton Common at 13:30 on Wednesdays or 13:00 on Sundays. Anyone is free to join but be sure to wear suitable sportswear.
