¸£Àû×ÅÆ¬ out how massive open online courses (MOOCs) can benefit you

Academics are invited to attend two sessions on how to run successful MOOCs or massive open online courses.

In 2014-2015, the University ran the popular ‘’ via FutureLearn.

The 4 week MOOC was developed by staff in the internationally leading Centre for Maritime Archaeology and attracted over 10,000 learners.

The June training sessions will be run by the MOOC academic team who will share their experiences of delivering the Shipwreck course. It will be followed by roundtable demonstrations of pedagogies, Open Educational Resources, tools used and opportunities for finding practical applications in teaching

What is a MOOC?

A massive open online course (MOOC) is a free study programme designed to be studied online by large numbers of students.

In addition to the usual course materials such as video lectures, reading material, coursework and tests, MOOCs provide forums that help students and tutors build an online community
