Textile student Lucy Harris at the Winchester School of Art is the grand prize winner of Surtex鈥檚 听 competition. The annual and well-established competition challenges participants to create original surface designs with a particular focus on works inspired by the New Urban Grunge movement this year.
Designnext honors art and design students for exceptional surface design work and was awarded to Lucy for her project 鈥淪ide Streets鈥�. The project in the apparel and personal accessories category was inspired by New York youth culture of the early 1990s.
On winning the award, Lucy said,
鈥淚 am so excited to have been a part of the Surtex designext 2015 competition and to have been invited to such a well-established and recognized show in the art licensing world.鈥�
