In preparation for the听new academic year, the University will be replacing the current Windows 7听software with Windows 8.1 in August 2015. This听upgrade will be in place across all Common Learning Space (CLS) workstations.
The upgrade will mean faster start up times, and听allow听the University to upgrade to the latest versions of other software that is in place.听This will听allow less waiting, and more potential for productivity for both staff and students.
Windows 8.1 will听additionally give an update听to听Office 2013, which involves new updates. This听can be used to familiarise staff and students听with the changes.
Although the system upgrade to Windows 8.1’s desktop will look similar to the current Windows 7 build, staff will still听have the option to听return to the classic view of Windows 7, but with all the benefits of Windows 8.1.
