In preparation for theÌýnew academic year, the University will be replacing the current Windows 7Ìýsoftware with Windows 8.1 in August 2015. ThisÌýupgrade will be in place across all Common Learning Space (CLS) workstations.
The upgrade will mean faster start up times, andÌýallowÌýthe University to upgrade to the latest versions of other software that is in place.ÌýThis willÌýallow less waiting, and more potential for productivity for both staff and students.
Windows 8.1 willÌýadditionally give an updateÌýtoÌýOffice 2013, which involves new updates. ThisÌýcan be used to familiarise staff and studentsÌýwith the changes.
Although the system upgrade to Windows 8.1’s desktop will look similar to the current Windows 7 build, staff will stillÌýhave the option toÌýreturn to the classic view of Windows 7, but with all the benefits of Windows 8.1.
iSolutions have provided Ìýabout what Windows 8.1 means for our Common Learning Spaces in preparation for the upgrade in August.
