As weÌýprepare to welcome ourÌýlargest-ever undergraduate cohort, teaching staff are invited toÌýa symposium on ‘Reflecting on the changing needs of our students’.
The half-day session will be heldÌýonÌý22 September 2015, 13:00Ìý– 17:15,Ìýin Mountbatten Building 53, room 4025.
It will beÌýaÌýlively and immersive afternoon where attendees canÌýengage with senior University decision makers and contribute to this important discussion within Higher Education’s changing landscape.
Professor Alex Neill, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), says:
“We have also seen developments in the profile of our students over recent years: they are joining us with a wider range of qualifications, in terms of both level and type.
A number of factors, including government-driven reform of A Levels, changes in the way that BTECs are taught and assessed, national immigration policy and demographic change, mean that the academic profile of our undergraduate population is inevitably going to evolve further over the next few years.
The continuing evolution of the profile of our students makes it important that we keep our curriculum, teaching and assessment methods, pastoral support and provision of extra-and co-curricular opportunities under review, to ensure that they are fit for purpose.”
