The University has placed 14^th in an annual compilation of UK league tables published by the Times Higher Education.

The THE’s ‘Table of Tables’ combines the results of the UK’s three main domestic university rankings – , and The Times and The Sunday Times .

Southampton placed 14^th in both the Complete and Guardian University Guides this year and came 16^th in the Good University Guide.

, which only lists the top 30 universities, shows that Southampton is one of this year’s highest climbers after rising three places from last year’s ranking of 17^th after climbing three places from 20^th the previous year.

Amongst Russell Group universities, Southampton is ranked 9^th in the table headed by Cambridge and Oxford at 1^st and 2^²Ô»åÌýrespectively.

This consolidates a year of league table success for the University on both the UK and global stage. The University is now:

• ranked 14th in the  – rising five places from last year
• ranked 14th in the  – rising two places from last year
• ranked 16th in the  – rising two places from the previous year
• ranked 81st in the  – rising 13 places from the previous year
