Connecting minds: Health and Healthcare Lecture Series begins today

The University will showcase the real and positive impact it’s making on the policy and practice of health and healthcare with the launch of a new programme of public lectures today in London.

The first of these events, chaired by Professor Iain Cameron, Dean of Medicine, will be held at The King’s Fund from 17:00. This opening lecture in the series is focused on stimulating debate and discussion with an audience of stakeholders and influencers around Public Health with keynotes from:

  • Simon Stevens, Chief Executive of NHS England who is responsible for The NHS published in October 2014 – ‘The H in NHS’
  • Professor Sir Michael Marmot, Director of the Institute of Health Equity at University College London – ‘Obesity and inequalities in health’
  • , Director and Professor of Rheumatology at the University’s MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Unit – ‘The Lifecourse Approach in Practice: From Evidence to Public Health Policy’

Joining this group for a panel discussion on how the University is influencing public health and driving cross-sector collaboration are:

  • , Southampton Professor of Health Systems Implementation, and the Research Director of the NIHR CLAHRC Wessex (Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care);
  • , Southampton Professor of Public Health.
