women's week

Every year on the 8听March, the University comes together to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Thousands of events are held throughout the world both to inspire women and celebrate achievements.

At the University听we will be celebrating International Women’s Week (IWW) from Monday 7听–Friday 11, butwith events stretching from 5 – 23听March.听 Most IWW events are open to everyone; including the local community – to both students and staff at the University, women and men, and are free of charge unless stated otherwise.

Events range from discussions of women in science, art exhibitions and a talk from Sharon Strawbridge (Senior Lecturer at University of Exeter) and our Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Sir Christopher Snowden, Vice-Chancellor, said:

鈥淭he University is extremely proud to be celebrating International Women鈥檚 Week, a wide range of people across the university have worked hard to produce an increasingly interesting, stimulating and diverse range of events, led by both staff and students. We hope you will be able to get involved and be inspired.鈥

We are proud to have worked cross collaboratively with departments of the University and the wider local community.

The international theme this year is 鈥榩ledge for parity鈥 with an aim to bring everyone 鈥 men and women 鈥 together to help achieve gender equality.
