The University’s John Hansard Gallery is delighted to announce that it has been successful in applyingÌýto Arts Council England’s fund.Ìý

Catalyst EvolveÌýis a new initiativeÌýwhich aims to support organisations with a limited fundraisingÌýtrack record, in orderÌýto attract more private giving. The Evolve fund will help organisations develop successful and sustainable fundraising models by investing in their capacity.ÌýMoney raised will be matched by the fund over a period of three years, and itÌýis expected that organisations will continue to generate new money for the sector beyond the end of the grant programme.
From the 305 eligible applications, 140 projects were successful and will collectively receive a total of £17.5m. Awarded the maximum grant of £150,000, the John Hansard Gallery will now be able to offer match funding to incentivise philanthropic giving. The Gallery will also be able to invest in the skills, capacity and culture of the organisation to better enable the raising of philanthropic income in the future.
NotÌýonly is the funding itself excellent news,Ìýbut itÌýwill also be aÌýconsiderable incentiveÌýfor other potential supporters of the Gallery,Ìýultimately helping to leverage further support as the organisation heads towards its new purpose-built, state-of-the-art home at Studio 144, Southampton’s £30m new arts complex, in 2017.
