At the recent programme launch Ian Dunn explained:

鈥淭he UniForum benchmarking programme will be聽an invaluable tool for collecting聽information about how we聽run a complex organisation like the University. Understanding how we manage activities,聽compared to similar聽organisations,聽enables us to look at how we allocate our resources and聽support the University .听

鈥淏enchmarking is, in essence,聽a self-assessment tool, focused on delivering best practice. By comparing ourselves with Russell Group universities, amongst others, we don鈥檛 necessarily have to reinvent the wheel.听If there are things happening out there which are really world-class then I would like us to be able to bring them into the University as quickly as possible.

鈥淭he UniForum Benchmarking Programme will help us to聽look at our own activities, compare them and provide us with聽new insight into how we choose to run the University of Southampton.鈥

In order to carry out the benchmarking exercise, nominated managers named 鈥楻espondents鈥 have been asked to input the number of hours members of their team have spent on certain activities over the last 12 months.
