As work progresses on the development of the University’s new teaching and learning building at South Gower, we are now moving into a new phase of site preparation.

From Monday 12 September, contractors will begin to dismantle Building 58a on Salisbury Road. They will start by removing the roof, before moving on to the main structure. The dismantling of the building will take approximately three weeks and there is likely to be some noise from this activity.
In the coming weeks, the following works will be taking place:
- The work on Salisbury Road will continue with traffic management signs and lights in place.
- On Tuesday 20 September the bin store located between Buildings 2 and 58 will be removed and there will be some lorry movements on this day. For users of the bin store, please note this has been relocated next to the John Hansard Gallery.
- Thursday 22 September is the date scheduled for breaking up the foundations of building 58a. Please note that this will be a noisy operation because of the machinery required, but is expected to be completed within one working day.
- Within the next three weeks:
- The bus layby next to the site will be removed to create space for a pedestrian path from Salisbury Road to the bus interchange. There will be no change to the unilink bus exit route.
- The temporary fencing adjacent to the unilink bus exit lane will be replaced with permanent hoardings.
