The University’s Employability Excellence Awards 2016 took place on Thursday 13 October at the Grand Harbour Hotel.
The Awards ceremony recognises achievements by students and employability partners who participate in the Careers and Employability Service work experience programmes. These programmes help students gain skills to enhance their CVs and support successful job applications whilst providing talent and fresh ideas to businesses.
The celebration event was a big success, with 9 student awards and 4 employability partner awards. Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Christopher Snowden chose the winner of the President and Vice-Chancellor鈥檚 Award for Outstanding Achievement. This year鈥檚 winner was Tom Reed, a MEng Aeronautics and Astronautics student,聽who was recognised for聽the project work he delivered with through the .
Professor Sir Christopher Snowden said:
鈥淭here were an outstanding set of nominations, but Tom Reed鈥檚 nomination stood out as exceptional. Tom is a real credit to the University and his innovation and contribution to Tekever are exceptional.”
Peter Saddington, Principal Engineer at Tekever, commented:
鈥淭he results from Tom鈥檚 work have led to a genuine novel capability within Tekever for designing, developing, testing and simulating Unmanned Air Systems. Tom has generated a number of ground-breaking ideas and concepts, which are now being progressed into product development. Tom has demonstrated he is capable of taking theoretical knowledge and applying this to real world problems.鈥�
