Staff, students and the public are invited to watch the American election coverage live at Avenue Campus on Tuesday 8 November 2016听蹿谤辞尘听22:00 until late.

This Election Night event will explore Barack Obama鈥檚 presidential legacy, and the construction of presidential myths and reputations. The evening will feature short introductory talks by Americanists in the History department, as well as discussions and audience polls.
Drawing upon their specialist fields of research, will discuss Obama and religion; will evaluate his use of drone warfare; will unpick his landmark nuclear deal with Iran; will ponder the state of the 鈥渟pecial relationship鈥 with the UK; and will examine the outgoing president鈥檚 impact on American race relations.
As well as considering the extent to which Obama was able to deliver on the hopes of his domestic and international supporters, each talk will highlight the hopes and fears of what the next president will bring to the nation, and the wider world.
This is the launch event for the University鈥檚 , which is supported by the 听and the Faculty of Humanities.
