Congratulations to the Careers and Employability team who won two awards at the National Undergraduate Employability (NUE) Awards on Friday 24 February.

The team were nominated for a total of six awards and were proud to win awards in the following two categories:
Most Improved Commitment to Employability
–听 in the Careers and Employability Service.
Outstanding Contribution to Work Experience
– Ann Cooper, Head of Placements and Work Experience. Ann has been instrumental in improving our students鈥 graduate prospects and developing the Employer Engagement team who deliver hundreds of beneficial work experience opportunities each year.

The great news came just after the team found out that they have also been shortlisted for two .
The AGR is a long-established network of professionals looking to maximise the development of emerging talent.
Each year, the AGR recognises outstanding examples of excellence in the graduate development industry. Higher Education institutions have two categories reserved and the University are finalists in both.
The two nominations are in the following categories:
Best Higher Education Preparation for Work Initiative:
–听 is an opportunity for students, of all subjects and years of study, to work in teams on a client brief supplied by an external organisation. Students and employers have given brilliant feedback and 479 students have undertaken 122 projects since the programme launched.

Best Higher Education Preparation for Work Strategy:
– This nomination recognises the vision, stakeholder engagement and impact in graduate development delivered by the University. The Careers and Employability Service collaborates with partners across the University, and externally, to deliver a comprehensive range of activities that inform, educate and equip students for the workplace.
Head of Placements & Work Experience, Ann Cooper, said:
Over the last three years we have strategically developed a comprehensive range of work experience and events opportunities that directly support student employability. Raising our profile at nationally acknowledged events such as the AGR conference directly aligns to the University鈥檚 aims of 鈥enhancing our reputation and achieving recognition鈥.聽We are therefore, delighted to achieve 鈥楩inalist鈥 status in the AGR Awards for our approach to preparing students for work.
