Particle physicist 聽and energy researcher 聽are to be awarded Honorary Doctorates from Uppsala University in Sweden.

The honours recognise excellence in science and engineering, opening the door for regular visits and sustained collaboration at one of Europe鈥檚 oldest and most renowned universities.
Professor Moretti, a key member of Southampton鈥檚聽, says,
鈥淭his is a clear recognition of the importance of, not only my own work, but also聽that of any individual who has engaged with me over the years in research: innumerable students, post-docs and colleagues from within Southampton鈥檚 High Energy Physics Group. The output of this collaboration has been tremendous and I trust this award is a means of furthering ongoing collaborations into the years to come.鈥
Professor Bahaj, head of Southampton鈥檚聽聽(ECCD), comments,
鈥淚 am delighted and honoured to receive this prestigious award. Over the last 12 years, I have had close collaboration with the 脜ngstr枚m Laboratory and Engineering at Uppsala. This honour is a recognition of the high calibre work by the extremely talented team working within ECCD. The award will motivate us to engage further with colleague in Uppsala in addressing global engineering challenges facing society today and in the future. 鈥
The scientists are two of five new honorary doctors named by Uppsala鈥檚 Faculty of Science and Technology this autumn and their awards will be conferred on聽26 January 2018.
