The University has secured opportunities for staff and students to enter two innovation competitions run by Siemens.

This is a prestigious student competition for groups of students to develop innovative ideas and app prototypes which use the potential of Edge computing to solve industrial challenges.
Prizes include: €1,000 per team, goodie bags, gadgets, and funding for participation, travel and accommodation for a Hackathon in October in Germany.

Additionally, the is open to staff and students to share ideas for ‘Software Defined Inverters’ with Siemens – an inverter being a gadget that converts one source of power into another. Those taking part could have the chance to pitch their idea at a July Conference in Nuremberg, win equipment as well as €5,000.
