Students and staff should familiarise themselves with an email scam that is currently being used to target universities.
If you receive an email claiming that your library account/card has expired and that you need to reactivate your account, delete the email – do not click on any links or attachments.

Scammers are becoming increasingly skilled at sending these messages from email accounts which appear to be part of a university’s network, and the link they provide is also likely to look genuine.
The University of Southampton will never email to prompt you to reactivate your ID/library card online. If you have queries relating to the Library, you can email: libenqs@soton.ac.uk or talk to a member of staff .
For more information on protecting yourself against scams, search the iSolutions website for ‘phishing’. If you’re ever suspicious of an email, please contact ServiceLine – you can also report emails within Outlook using the ‘Report Message’ icon to the right of the top toolbar (screenshot below).
