Members of SUP includeÌýstaff, students and alumni together with people from across Hampshire attracted by opportunities in acting, directing, writing, design, costume, lights, sound and more.Ìý No previous experience of theatre is necessary. Gavin Costigan (on the left in the picture), whose day job at the University is Director ofÌýPublic Policy, is currently rehearsing for the role ofÌýLord Justice Wargrave. He says:
“SUP has always maintained close ties with the University, and still rehearses and performs on Highfield Campus.ÌýThere are loads of opportunities to get involved with theatre productions, both on and off stage, and a host of social activities as well.”
Other cast members include Dr. Jonathan Shepherd, a Principal Research Fellow in the Faculty of Medicine and a University alumnus.
SUP won Best Play at the Southern Region of the All England Theatre Festival and came within one point of progressing to the English final. TheyÌýalso won Best Play, Best Actor, Best Original Script and Best Technical Achievement (set, lighting and sound) at the 40th Totton Festival of Drama.
