I am appalled at this decision. Not only have some of the team members present given admission of guilt to the racial word used with other leaving the team so as not to be associated with the club, but it appears that the university has given them a completely free pass by not even addressing their inappropriate behaviour on the bus. I would very much like to know the other word they were chanting then, if it is not the racist word we all heard then surely it should be acceptable to share it?

It was also very shady for this announcement to be released outside of term time, after normal working hours and with a vague title, like it is trying to be swept under the rug.

Makes me ashamed to be associated with a university that refuses to take a stand on racial issues. I expected better.

So if the word used wasn’t in fact the n word what was it? What is this imagined nickname that sounds so much like that word. Why were the boys involved who originally blamed the alcohol suddenly now saying it’s a nickname? Also good timing with Xmas break… nice way to sweep it under the rug…
