Doctoral College ¶Ù¾±°ù±ð³¦³Ù´Ç°ù’s and Research Awards Nominations 2020

The annual Festival of Doctoral Research starts today, celebrating the work of our research students. Inevitably, a number of events have had to be postponed, but we have moved others, such as the 3 Minute Thesis competition online, and are continuing with the Research and ¶Ù¾±°ù±ð³¦³Ù´Ç°ù’s awards.

Nominations for the annual ¶Ù¾±°ù±ð³¦³Ù´Ç°ù’s and Research Awards are now open. Please take the opportunity to reward and appreciate the efforts and successes of our doctoral researchers!

¶Ù¾±°ù±ð³¦³Ù´Ç°ù’s Awards – Recognises and celebrates exceptional achievements and contributions of the University’s doctoral researchers.

Who is eligible for nomination? – Any current doctoral researcher (enrolled, writing up or awarded within the 2019/20 academic year) may be nominated, within one of the following themes:

  • Education – recognising an exceptional contribution to teaching and learning, e.g. working with UG or PGT cohorts.
  • Enterprise – recognising success or an exceptional trajectory towards e.g. commercialisation, spin-out, consultancy.
  • Citizenship and community – for an exceptional contribution to the PGR- or wider University community, e.g. in mentoring, pastoral support, peer-to-peer support, contribution to a PGR society or similar.
  • Public engagement & outreach – for an exceptional contribution to research group, discipline or Faculty, of University engagement/outreach initiatives.

Who can make a nomination? – Any PGR or member of staff (including supervisors and Faculty Graduate School staff) may submit a nomination.

Research Awards – Recognises the exceptional contribution of doctoral researchers to research group, School, Faculty or University research strategy.

Who is eligible for nomination? – Any doctoral researcher (enrolled, writing up or awarded within the current or previous academic year, including Doctoral Prize holders) who has:

  • made a research contribution resulting in at least one 3* or 4* output for REF 2021 (as measured by University REF benchmarking exercise), OR
  • for single-author contributions, has a publication of an equivalent quality
