The University has agreed to provide a funding scheme to allow doctoral research students to apply for a funding extension if their project has been significantly impacted by COVID-19. The scheme is now open for you to apply!
Full guidance on the program and the process can be found via the dedicated .

What you are able to apply for will depend on the type of your existing funding and the stage of your studies.
Applications will be made via a standard online form and evaluated by a panel in the relevant Faculty, which may seek additional information or evidence.
The application form will need to explain:
- The impact of COVID-19
- Mitigating factors put in place and their effectiveness
Doctoral research students funded by a UKRI training grant should have already been contacted by their CDT/DTP or Faculty Graduate School. Such students do not need to make a further application if their UKRI funding ends between 1 March 2020 and 31 March 2021.
If you believe you are UKRI-funded and have not already been surveyed, please contact your Faculty Graduate School Office.
Please note that this funding extension scheme is limited and has a strict eligibility criteria. It will replace all previous COVID-19 related policies relating to extensions.
Full guidance and FAQs are provided on the  (UoS sign-in required). If you have any questions about the funding extension scheme, please contact your Faculty Graduate School.
