LGBT+ History Month enters its second week, find out what’s on

LGBT+ History Month began on 1 February with Pulse LGBT+ Staff Network running their first Safe Listening Space session where network members were able to share their personal experiences in a safe environment.

Throughout this month staff and students across the University will be hosting a series of events to increase the visibility of LGBT+ people by exploring their history, lives, and experiences.

Take a look at Friday 5 February’s event 鈥淒rag Me to Filth!鈥, organised by SUSU with Rose XO, a cabaret superstar. It鈥檚 a chaotic, campy classic that has toured University Student Unions across the South. .

Other upcoming events include:

  • The Centre for Democratic Futures will hold a panel conversation on Tuesday, 9 February 2021, 17:00 鈥 18:30 to discuss Democratic Futures and the LGBT+ Community: Looking back and looking ahead. Visit the event page for more details.
  • Safe Listening Space Workshop on Monday 15 February 2021, 12:30 to 13:30 organised by Pulse LGBT+ Staff Network. This event is open to staff only. .
  • History seminar, 鈥楥onflating Treason and Homosexuality 鈥 Writing a Queer History of Colonel Alfred Redl鈥 with speaker Professor Mark Cornwall, Professor of Modern European History. This event is open to staff and students and explores the scandal of Colonel Redl. To register visit the event page.
