LGBT+ History Month events 15-19 February

The University is flying the flag at Highfield Campus to mark its celebration of LGBT+ History Month which began on the 1 February. Throughout this month staff and students across the University have hosted and will continue to host events to increase the visibility of LGBT+ people through history.

Upcoming events include:

  • 12:30 鈥 13:30 15 FebSafe Listening Space Workshop This event is organised by Pulse LGBT+ Staff network and is open to staff only. You can register through .
  • 18:00 – 19:00 15 FebHistory Seminar: 鈥楥onflating Treason and HomosexualityWriting a Queer History of Colonel Alfred Redl鈥 Speaker 鈥 Professor Mark Cornwall, Professor of Modern European History. This event is open to staff and students and explores the scandal of Colonel Redl. To register visit the聽 event page.
  • 13:00 鈥 14:30 17 FebDan Bernardo: 鈥淲ho Wants My Job? Black and LGBT+ Gamers鈥 This talk will unpack anxieties of sis white developers in a changing world. How to deal with questions of white privilege, cultural appropriation, sexual identity as well as welcoming diverse colleagues and designing games for a diverse audience.   • 18:00 鈥 19:30 18 FebThe Annual Southampton Stonewall Lecture 2021: 鈥楾ranstopia and the Politics of History in the Asia Pacific This event is part of the annual series of lectures organised by the School of Humanities and chaired by Professor Mark Cornwall, Professor of Modern European History. This year鈥檚 lecture will be given by Howard Chiang, Associated Professor of History at the University of California. More details are available on the .
