New funding available from the University

Due to a high volume of applications the funding applications have now closed.
The University are launching two new funds available for you to apply to fromÌýMondayÌý1ÌýMarch. These funds are supported by additional government funding in partnership with the University and are focused on ensuring studentsÌýhave access to computer equipment and internet access as well as mitigating hardship related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Online Learning GrantsÌý

We recogniseÌýstudentsÌýare still facing difficultiesÌýin accessing appropriate IT equipment to enable them to successfully engage with their studies online. Eligible students can therefore apply for an Online Learning Grant as a financial contribution towards these costs. Ìý

Open to all UK, EU, and International Undergraduate,ÌýPostgraduate Taught andÌýPostgraduateÌýResearch students, these grants are a non-repayable award towards the costs of essential hardware, Internet access,Ìýequipment,Ìýand a³¦³¦±ð²õ²õ´Ç°ù¾±±ð²õ.ÌýWe’reÌýalso broadening theÌýcriteriaÌýfrom previousÌýfundingÌýrounds, and students canÌýnowÌýapply for additional equipmentÌýwhich they require, includingÌýsoftware,Ìýdesks, additionalÌýmemory,Ìýand other equipment students can evidence as necessaryÌýforÌýtheir course.ÌýWe will use set costs when making an award to ensure all students are treated equally. Ìý

Students who have previously received an Online Learning Grant are eligible to applyÌýand will receive a ‘top up’Ìýof funding from what they have previously receivedÌýif awarded.ÌýPlease be aware that funding is limited and if we are oversubscribed then we will award based on individual need.ÌýÌý

Hardship GrantsÌý

In addition to the impact of online studies we know that many students have struggled to cover rent, particularly those who have struggled to continue to work or find employment in lockdown.Ìý Therefore, we are offering grants of £500 to students who have struggledÌýto cover housing costs during this period. To apply for this grant, you needÌýtoÌýhave lived in and be paying rentÌýor a mortgageÌýin the UK since January 2021 however all students including international students are eligible to apply.Ìý

We understand that some students may be struggling financiallyÌýin other ways,Ìýand the Student Support Fund is still open and available for applications from all students.Ìý You can find out more about this fundÌýon our website and submit an application through our new online platform.Ìý
