The University of Southampton is very pleased to announce it is one of the 120 successful Universities in the first applications for the UK Turing Scheme.
The Turing Scheme is the new global mobility-funding scheme launched by the UK Government to support students studying and working abroad. It is integral to the UK Governments post-Brexit vision of a 福利着片 Britain and replaces the UK鈥檚 participation in the Erasmus+ programme. The scheme鈥檚 aims are to improve social mobility and increase accessibility of international opportunities to students studying at UK universities.
Vivienne Stern, Director of Universities UK International (UUKi) stated: 鈥淭he Turing Scheme will create opportunities for thousands of students from all over the country to gain experience working and studying abroad. We know from the evidence we have collected that students who have such experience tend to do better academically and in employment outcomes 鈥� and that this is especially true for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.鈥�
Southampton has advocated increased support and accessibility of outbound opportunities for students since committing to This campaign sets out an ambitious target to double outbound mobility, and Southampton鈥檚 engagement with the Turing Scheme is a step towards achieving this goal.
Funding received will support students undertaking study and work placements throughout 2021 鈥� 2022 and eligible students will be contacted directly in the coming weeks.
