Tips to maintain your health and wellbeing

As you enter the start of a new term, we wanted to remind you ofÌýsome practical guidance and a few tips you can follow to maintain your health and wellbeing.ÌýÌýÌý

Remember to register with a local doctor (‘GP’, General Practitioner)

The quickest and easiest way to register is online, which you can do  a²Ô»å .

You can also find your local GP using your postcode on the 

Remember to bring along details of your medical history and any medications you are using,Ìýas well asÌýphotographic ID.

International students, please remember to bring along a letter from the University of Southampton as proof that you are a student, along with your passport and any loose immigration documents. You should ask to be added to the list of National Health Service (NHS) patients. This means you will not have to pay a fee to visit the doctor.

Wash Your HandsÌý

It’s so easyÌýto spread germs to one another and not washing your hands makes it even easier to do so! Regularly washing your hands is a simple way to prevent germs from spreading.

Get tested regularlyÌýÌý

All students and staff accessing our campuses and facilities are expected to test weekly for COVID-19 through the . In order to receive the test pack, you must follow the two-step registration process, .

Grab a jabÌý

We expect all students (and staff) to be fully vaccinated to reduce the risk to themselves and others.Ìý in Southampton if you are not fully vaccinated!

Report a positive caseÌý

It is extremely important to make sure you thatÌýif you are symptomatic, awaiting test results, are self-isolating or have tested positiveÌýfor COVID-19,Ìýyou follow Government guidance, self-isolate and  so we can support you.

Wear a face coveringÌý

Face coverings are no longer mandatory by the UK Government, however the UniversityÌýstrongly encourages and expects face coverings to be worn inÌýcrowded places and indoors when moving around.

Get Enough SleepÌý

You may have a lot of late nights throughout the semester, but getting enough sleep can really improve your overall health and wellness.

Drink Lots of WaterÌý

Staying hydratedÌýgivesÌýyou more energy throughout the day,Ìýreinvigorates your body, stops you from overeating and aids in concentration. It also helps prevent those pesky headaches so fill up your water bottle daily.
