The appraisal conversation window for all staff at Level 4-6 is open fromÌý1 January 2022Ìý³Ü²Ô³Ù¾±±ôÌý31 May 2022.

This year will see some changes to the appraisal process as we start to transition towards one timeline for all. The first of these changes affects the length of the appraisal objectives period, for levels 4-6 which is extended to 19 months.
What to do now
It is recommended that Level 4-6 appraisal meetings are set in the diary now to allow both the appraiser and appraisee time to prepare.
In these meetings, you will be:
- reviewing contribution in the year up toÌý31 December 2021
- considering personal development and career aspirations
- agreeing objectives to cover an extended 19-month period from 1 January 2022 to 31 July 2023
Recording AppraisalsÌý
The appraisal discussion should be recorded in the online appraisal form inÌý.
Level 4-6 appraisees will have two forms:
- one form datedÌý1 January 2021 toÌý31 December 2021, to record contribution against last year’s objectives, and
- one form datedÌý1 January 2022 toÌý31 July 2023, to record agreed objectives for the extended period ahead.
Please note that moderation will not take place in this year’s appraisal round.
With the extended period for objectives, it is important that appraisers meet with their direct reports/appraisees at regular intervals to ensure each staff member feels supported and motivated and their objectives are still relevant and achievable. More guidance on agreeing long term objectives will be made available for line managers shortly.
At various points during 2022, we will release information on the transition to the new appraisal process. We will provide the relevant guidance and training where necessary, so you know what to do and when.
For more information on the proposed changes to the appraisal process please see
Staff at Levels 1-3 and Level 7 will continue in the current format and timeframes for until further notice.
