In September, we shared details of听our听Modernising the Governance project听鈥� the first major review of how our听University听is formally organised and managed since 2010.听
Aiming to deliver modern and accessible governance with a clear decision-making structure,听the project will also produce听a refreshed set of governance documentation that鈥檚 easy to听find,听navigate and understand.听
This Strategic Major project听supports the delivery of听our听听in听a number of听ways:听
- By placing people at the heart of our听University听governance we can better support our egalitarian values听by ensuring听that important governance information is made accessible and understandable to our staff and students, as well as the outside world.听听
- By streamlining and strengthening our governance, we’ll have an easily understandable framework to guide our decisions that’ll enable us to respond to change more quickly, effectively and efficiently.听
Senior Users join the Project Board听
We were delighted to welcome our new Senior Users to the Project Board earlier this month.听
Providing greater representation of and insight from our听University听community, the four Senior Users will bring enhanced scrutiny to board meetings, as well as a renewed focus on user requirements.听听
- Student Senior User representative: Ben Dolbear, President of SUSU 2021/22听
- Student Senior User representative: Jim Gardner, Chief Executive SUSU听
- Staff Senior User representative:听m.c.听schraefel, Professor of Electronics and Computer Science and Senate appointed Council representative听

Progress update听
- We鈥檙e currently engaging with our campus Trade Unions on proposed changes to the employment related Statute, Ordinance and procedures.听听听
- Research around digital user experience requirements is听looking to improve accessibility and navigation, making governance information easier to find, read and understand.听
- We鈥檙e working to create a single, clear delegation framework, bringing together key information that鈥檚 currently spread across听a variety of documents in various locations.听听
- We鈥檝e听drafted听proposed changes to听refresh and听modernise听the documents relating to听our University鈥檚 Constitution.听
