University Mental Health Day: help us celebrate

University Mental Health Day (UMHD) is taking place on Thursday 3 March – a day to bring together university communities across the country to make mental health a priority. UMHD is run jointly by Ìýand the .

There’s plenty of ways to get involved on the day. Highlights include:Ìý

  • : 14:00 – 15:00, Student Hangout Space, – join speaker, consultant, author and UoS alumnus Jay Unwin for a discussion on how university can have both positive and negative impact on your mental wellbeing, and why it’s important to be aware of how you’re feeling. Learn how to get the most from your time at university by keeping yourself fit and well in body and mind.
  • : 14:30 – 17:00, Faith and Reflection Centre, – trying something new and being creative can boost our wellbeing. Drop in to paint your own mini plant pot and take it home, complete with a plant from our selection.
  • : 15:00 –Ìý18:30, – the Student Wellbeing Team will be available to chat about your wellbeing. Between 15:00 – 18:30, you can get a free 5-minute head massage to help you unwind. Sign up on the day – first-come, first-served!
  • : All day,ÌýHighfield Campus – if you find yourself rushing between lectures without having time to take in your surroundings, our scavenger hunt is a chance for you to take a mindful walk around campus while spotting hidden Be Active stickers. Once you’ve found a sticker, simply submit a photo to the Playwaze app to be entered into a prize draw to win a £20 amazon voucher – or a £50 voucher if you snap all 5 stickers. Prize winners will be announced at 18:00 via Playwaze and on the . including deadlines and instructions on using the app.Ìý

Other ways to get involved – student wellbeing initiativeÌýÌý

  • Online focus group, Thursday 24 March, 18:00 – 20:00 – the Student Wellbeing Team are running a focus group and want to hear from you. Your perspectives are important, and the feedback will be used to enhance our wellbeing services like the Wellbeing Chats. Participants will get aÌý£10 gift voucher. .Ìý

  • °Õ³ó±ð Student Hub - available 24/7 to talk and help you access support. Ìý
  • Wellbeing Chats - talk to a Wellbeing Advisor about available support, or share concerns about a friend. Ìý
  •  - talk confidentially to a trained volunteer via the 24/7 text support line. Ìý
  •  – whatever you’re going through, a Samaritan will face it with you, available 24/7 by phone.Ìý
