There are several opportunities this month for staff and their families to take part in ground-breaking clinical research studies that will improve treatments and care.
Protecting against whooping cough
Professor Rob Read is leading a study seeking volunteers aged 18-50 years to evaluate a new vaccine for whooping cough. The research will involve a challenge with whooping cough bacteria placed in the nose, followed by a 17-day stay at a study hotel with a course of antibiotics. Participants could receive up to 拢3,775 for their time and inconvenience. Visit 聽 for further details.
Needle-free COVID-19 vaccine
A world-first trial led by Professor Saul Faust is studying a vaccine that could be used as a booster targeting COVID-19 virus variants and relatives that threaten future pandemics. The vaccine is given without a needle, just using a jet of air to push it into the skin. Eligibility criteria has recently changed so people can take part if they haven鈥檛 had a confirmed COVID-19 infection within the past 180 days. COVID-19 vaccine schedule for teenagers
The Com-COV3 study, led locally by Professor Saul Faust, is finding out how well young people (aged 12-15陆 years) respond to a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine. The results will help to inform decisions about how best to vaccinate young people against COVID-19 in the UK. 福利着片 out more:
