The year’s theme is ‘Community over Commercialisation’ which focuses on the benefit of community activities in combating the negative sides of commercialisationÌýin scholarly communications, for example, publicly funded research and knowledge being behind paywalls or excessive feesÌýbeing charged to publish open access.Ìý

In keeping with the theme,Ìýthe LibraryÌýisÌýlaunching a new Community of PracticeÌýfocusing on the development of a University Press – as part of a Strategic Major Project. ÌýThe University Press Community of Practice (UP CoP) is open to staff and Post graduate students, we would especially like to hear fromÌýmembers of the University community already engagedÌýin scholarly communication publishing activities under the banner of the University of Southampton.
