Winter break 2023/24: 24/7 support and service opening times

Whether you need any support in the upcoming winter break, or are staying in Southampton or Winchester and would like to keep accessing University services, we have compiled closure information for various facilities:Ìý

24/7 support available this winter break Ìý

The Student Hub is here for you 24/7, every day of the year, including throughout the winter break. If you have any issues or need support, you can speak to an advisor instantly via theÌý, byÌýemail,Ìýor call them atÌýany hour on 02380 599 599. You can come see the team in person until Thursday 21 December during their usual opening times.

From Friday 22 December, to see The Student Hub in-person on Highfield Campus, please call them to let them know you are here.ÌýThey will remain contactable via online chat, email, and phone for all other queries.

The Highfield Campus in-person contact point will reopen as normal on Tuesday 2 January (no need to call first), with all other in-person points reopening on Monday 8 January.

Where to study – Library opening times Ìý

You can for all our libraries. Hartley Library will operate a reduced timetable during the winter break, and will be closed on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 December, and Monday 1 January, so be sure to check the before heading out.ÌýÌý

Academic Skills Service Ìý

While the usual drop-in session from the Academic Skills Service will be unavailable after Friday 15 December, the specialist team will remain contactable until Wednesday 20 December, and after Tuesday 2 January, following the closure period between Thursday 21 December – Monday 1 January. Southampton Sport facilities opening times Ìý

There will also be changes to the Southampton Sport facilities you can use during the break. While Jubilee Sports Centre and Mayflower Gym have different opening times, the rest of our sports facilities will be closed from Friday 22 December until Tuesday 2 January. SUSU Building 42 will remain closed until Monday 8 January.Ìý

IT support and University Systems Ìý

IT support services will be closed from Friday 22 December until Tuesday 2 January, so make sure you to avoid disruption during the closure period.Ìý

We will also undertake essential electrical testing work betweenÌýWednesdayÌý27 December – Monday 1 January at the University’s data centre, the location of many of our computer network servers. This could affect some of the University systems you use – you can . Ìý

Faith and Reflection Centre opening times Ìý

The Faith and Reflection Centre will be closed from Friday 15 December until Monday 8 January. If you require wellbeing support during this time, please reach out to The Student Hub. Ìý
