It鈥檚 Stress Awareness Month and as part of our Address the Stress campaign, the staff wellbeing team will also be on the road from April to July across our campuses. They鈥檒l be speaking to staff about their experiences with stress, how to manage it and what support and training is available to them. You can .

Still unsure about whether training would help you? Here is some feedback from recent training session attendees:
Sarah Binet said: 鈥淭here were many benefits to attending the training like being able to meet colleagues across departments and swap stories. We learned about the origins of stress, its short and long-term impact and ways to prevent or conquer it. The risk assessment model was simple to follow and embed in my role. It is well worth doing as a line manager to help foster empathy and understanding for others and myself.
It has helped me to develop a better understanding of my own responses to stress and different ways it manifests in others. But more importantly, it is now something I feel able to discuss in the workplace. It’s easy to forget that stress affects us all and the signs can be misconstrued as poor performance or behaviour.鈥
Karl Lickiss said: 鈥淚t has helped me realise that I have more control over the items that cause me stress than I maybe realised. I also realised, to an extent, that I was causing some of my own stress with unrealistic expectations of myself or thinking others had certain expectations of me which wasn鈥檛 based on anything they had said but things I had assumed. The course got me thinking more practically about how I work and live so I don鈥檛 get into bad habits or situations that I did particularly a few years ago. I am also better at realising when I need a break.鈥
