Researchers at the Web Science Institute (WSI) have published new white papers and policy papers addressing the opportunities and threats of the internet and artificial intelligence in public policy.听
As the latest changes in government take shape after this summer鈥檚 general election, and new ways of engaging in democratic activities emerge, the impact of new technologies is expected to become increasingly relevant to businesses, policymakers, and consumers.听
In a policy paper aiming to , members of the WSI, led by Dr Matt Ryan, with postgraduate policy associate Adam-Meylan Stevenson, and Dr Ben Hawes, have identified the benefits, limitations, and funding opportunities for the development of new technologies to be used in the public sector.听
The broader applications of the internet in democracy are also explored in a separate paper, with researchers highlighting the need for expertise and diligence when considering the .听听
