What are The Student Experience Awards?

recognise, reward and celebrate students and societies who go above and beyond their academic studies to contribute to the University’sand SUSU’s cultureand value, and it is up to you to nominate them!鈥

Keep reading to find out what awards are available, and how to submit a nomination.听

What awards are available?

There are multiple awards available within The Student Experience Awards, to recognise the broad range of extra-curricular success achieved by our student community:

  • One Southampton Student Award
  • Wellbeing and Inclusivity Champion Award
  • Sustainability Champion Award听
  • Student Enterprise Award听

  • Student Ambassador of the Year听
  • Fundraiser of the Year
  • Committee Member of the Year
  • Society of the Year

How do I submit a nomination?

Once you know which award you鈥檇 like to nominate a student or society for, you can .听 Or, visit The Student Experience Award Pop-Ups in the , from 09:00-15:00 on Friday 21, and Monday 24 March.

All nominations must be submitted by Friday 11 April.听

You can submit more than one nomination, and all nominees will be notified that they have received a nomination (we won鈥檛 pass on your name unless you ask us to).鈥

When do winners receive their awards?

All awards are presented at our annual Student Experience Awards Ceremony in June, which is attended by shortlisted nominees, as well as members of staff from both the University of Southampton and SUSU.鈥

Morgan Blake and Ihuoma Osuji, winners of the Wellbeing and Inclusivity Champion Award 2024 receiving their plaque on stage.

Morgan Blake and Ihuoma Osuji have helped make the medical curriculum more inclusive and accessible for our Medicine students. As chairs of the鈥疭tudent Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee within the Faculty of Medicine, they led鈥痮n a student-staff collaboration to diversify and decolonise the curriculum. Among many other accomplishments, they developed a toolkit to support staff in diversifying their teaching, delivered a pilot LGBT+ in Clinical Practice session to provide students with a better understanding of LGBT+ health, consulting widely with students, educators, and clinicians. Their work has significantly improved the quality of teaching for our Medicine students.
