Mental Health Awareness Week 2025: Connect with your community

This week (Monday 12-Friday 16 May) is Mental Health Awareness Week – and with the exams and assessment period approaching, it’s a great opportunity to take a break, check in with yourself, and boost your wellbeing by doing something you enjoy.Ìý

This year’s theme, ‘Community’, acts as a reminder of the power of connecting with others – one of the we can all take to improve our mental health. Whether you want to take a break from your studies or get active, there is plenty going in our community for Mental Health Awareness Week and beyond. Here is what’s on over the next few weeks, including more events to help you unwind, reconnect, and celebrate.Ìý

Events to help you unwindÌýand connectÌý

Starting with Wednesday 14 May, there will be various events on our campuses, so you can catch a break with something you enjoy:ÌýÌý

If you live or study in Winchester, the WSA Wellbeing programme is a great opportunity to boost your mental, emotional, and physical health with drop-in sessions from our Academic Skills specialists, free Be Active sessions like badminton and Pilates, mindfulness workshops, and quiet spaces.ÌýÌý

If you have exams or assignments to complete, there is plenty for you to look forward to in the last week of the year to help you celebrate another year with our wider Southampton Community:ÌýÌý

  • Colour Fun Run – Tuesday 3 June, 12:00-15:00, Wide LaneÌý

Join the University‘s most vibrant event for a free 3km walk or run, with fun games and activities, barbecue and ice cream included for both participants and spectators. .Ìý

Come along to Highfield Campus for free ice cream and chips, as well as a variety of fun activities, including a surf simulator and a crafts station.Ìý

If you ever feel overwhelmed or want to talk to someone, our dedicated wellbeing services are accessible via and are here for you 24/7, 365 days a year, including for in-person walk-ins via The Student Hub in Building 37 on Highfield Campus. You can talk things through with a wellbeing specialist, who will support you in working out the right next steps to help you manage your wellbeing.ÌýÌý
