Park Mark accreditation: Building on our commitment to safer parking

Earlier this year, the University was proud to share the news that a number of our main campus car parks had achieved the Park Mark Safer Parking Award. This nationally recognised accreditation celebrates car parks that meet the highest standards in safety, cleanliness, and facility management.

Now, several months on, we鈥檙e celebrating how this award continues to make a positive impact across our university community.

Since receiving the Park Mark accreditation, the University鈥檚 Security and Estates teams have continued working together to enhance car park infrastructure, including improved lighting, clearer signage, landscaping modifications and regular maintenance checks to ensure we continue meeting the award鈥檚 rigorous standards.

Nick Povey, Chief Security Officer commented:

鈥淲hen we first announced the Park Mark accreditation, it marked a key milestone for our campus. Since then, we鈥檝e continued building on that success-making tangible improvements that reinforce our commitment to providing a safe, accessible and high-quality environment for all who use our facilities. It鈥檚 something we鈥檙e genuinely proud of.鈥

The award, issued through the national Safer Parking Scheme and assessed by the British Parking Association and police representatives, recognises our commitment to safety and good management practices.

The accreditation has been awarded to Boldrewood, Hampton and South Broadlands car parks. The assessor reviewed every aspect of the car park operation, including the standard and level of CCTV, lighting, security, management processes (such as security patrols) and the general condition of the car park.

Accredited car parks are reassessed every 12 months to ensure the standards are maintained, and that any recommendations made during the initial assessment have been reviewed and, where possible, implemented.
