This year鈥檚 winter break starts听on听Saturday 13听December听and finishes on听厂耻苍诲补测听4听闯补苍耻补谤测.听While the University is closed during bank holidays and closure days 鈥� from听Thursday 25 December听迟辞听厂耻苍诲补测听4听闯补苍耻补谤测听鈥� many services are available to you during the break, and some even during the closure period.听

If you have any questions or need any support during the winter break,听The Student Hub鈥痳emains听your first point of contact 鈥� you can听get in touch with听the team via email, phone, and online chat听24/7, including on bank holidays听and closure days.鈥赌�听
While听The Student Hub in Building 37 on Highfield Campus will be closed from鈥�Thursday 25听December鈥痶辞鈥�Saturday 27 December,听it听will remain available听every day between听08:00听and听20:00听for the rest of the break听if you need any in-person support.听Online, and telephone support will still be available during this time.听
The Student Hub in-person sites at Sir James Matthews Building, Avenue Campus, NOCS and Winchester School of Art will be closed听until the start of semester two.听

Library opening times听
If you would like to access our libraries听during the winter break,听all libraries and study spaces are accessible outside of the closure period (Thursday 25 December听鈥撎�厂耻苍诲补测听4听闯补苍耻补谤测).听The Sir James Matthews study zone and Building 100 are also closed on听Wednesday 24 December.听听
Hartley Library and the Health Services Library will听also be available听during听part of听the closure period.听Hartley Library听will only be closed on听Thursday 25 December, Friday 26 December,听and听Thursday听1 January, while the Health Services听Library听will be closed听on听Thursday 25 December, Friday 26 December, Wednesday 31 December and Thursday 1 January.听听

Academic and study support听
If you are听planning to study听for your upcoming exams and assessments during the winter break, make sure you听听for guidance on what to expect and how to prepare for the upcoming assessments period 鈥� including the latest news, useful videos, top tips, and more.
The Academic Skills Service usual drop-in schedule听won鈥檛听be running听between鈥�Monday 15 December听and听Monday听5听January, when it will resume with Writing Caf茅s, Academic Skills Drop-ins, and Maths and Stats drop-ins as usual.听
Make sure you explore the鈥�鈥痜or a variety of resources听to help you as you prepare, including听tools such as dissertation and assignment planners, exam revision techniques, and A-Z skills guides. If you have a specific query,听you can听submit听a鈥�听and a specialist will respond outside of the听University听closure period.
Staying active with Southampton Sport听
If you would like to use the Southampton Sport facilities听over the break, the Jubilee Sport and Recreation Centre is only closed听on听Thursday 25听and听Friday 26 December, and open听08:00-20:00 from听Saturday 27 December听until听Friday 2 January, when it returns to听usual听hours.听Other facilities such as听Mayflower Gym and Wide Lane will be closed from听Thursday 25 December,听reopening on听Saturday 3听January.

Throughout the winter break听(15 December 鈥� 4 January), Southampton Sport are offering students free access to the Jubilee Sport and Recreation Centre pool or gym, even if you don鈥檛 have a membership听鈥� to benefit, simply听show your student ID at听reception and mention you would like to use the听Active for Students offer.听If you听have any questions about this offer, you can听contact Southampton Sport for more information.听
Food outlets
Many of the University’s catering outlets will continue to be open during the winter break, with opening times varying from week to week. While Piazza will be closed for the duration of the break, The Arlott, Avenue Caf茅, The Artisan (Sir James Matthews), WSA Caf茅, NOC Caf茅, and the Hartley Library Starbucks will still be available. All outlets will be closed for the University closure period from听Thursday 25 December, reopening on听Monday 5 January.

Your Students鈥� Union
Students鈥� Union outlets such as The Shop, The Bridge, and The听Stag鈥檚听have varying opening times听during the break, so make sure you听听if you are planning to visit. Building 42听will remain open from 08:00 to 22:00听during the weekdays听until听Tuesday 23 December.听

IT support
IT support services, including ServiceLine and our Tech Hubs听in Hartley Library and the Sir James Matthews Building, will听not be available听from鈥�Wednesday听24 December鈥痷ntil听they reopen on鈥�Monday 5听January.听

Events taking place over the break
