Collaborative Studentships with Industry

For Students:

These studentships will provide outstanding students access to expertise, data and/or facilities not available in an academic setting alone, whilst at the same time encouraging productive engagement between collaborators. The students will have an opportunity to develop a range of valuable skills and significantly enhance their future employability, and the industrial partner will benefit from a motivated, high-quality PhD student undertaking cutting-edge research relevant to the organisation’s priorities and objectives.

Awards will be 3.5 years in duration, but may be longer if industrial partners contribute the funds.

The collaborative studentship will fund UK fees, UKRI minimum stipend and an RTSG of £1500.

For Industry:

These studentships offer a way for industrial partners to benefit from collaboration with our world class research groups.Ìý Contributions to such studentships may be negotiated individually and can be anywhere up to 49% of the total cost of a studentship (so any sum up to a maximum ofÌý ~£47k cost to industry at 2025/26 levels for a 3.5 year studentship).Ìý The studentships are flexible and could involve industrial, a placement of the student with your company, or even the doctoral training of one of your employees.Ìý The University Business and Industry Partners team offers a full service to arrange contracts and IP.ÌýÌý
